Margaret Tali’s research connects art history, museum studies and memory studies. Her work encompasses 20th century Baltic history, transnational and transcultural travels of ideas and memories in art and visual culture. In the scope of the Translating Memories project she is interested in how visual art has been used to introduce and translate postsocialist memory dynamics in museums and in the transfers of monuments as difficult heritage from public space to museums in post-soviet Eastern Europe.
